Text: Colossians 1:9

“For this reason also, since the day we heard of it,

we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that

you may be filled with the KNOWLEDGE of His will

in all spiritual WISDOM and UNDERSTANDING”

Knowledge

Hebrew: yada – (v) to know

To learn about, discern, perceive, distinguish, become familiar with

Hebrew: dahath – (n) knowledge

The perception or discernment of an object or concept

Greek: epignosis – (n) precise and correct knowledge

The condition of awareness regarding information

The condition of awareness due to familiarity

The accumulation of information

Wisdom

Hebrew: hakmah – (n) the work of a skillful craftsman

Greek: sophia – (n) the use of knowledge, the intelligence of God

The source of wisdom is God (James 1:5)

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.

The understanding of how everything fits together

Understanding

Hebrew: tabun – (n) intelligence, skill, reason, rationality

bina – (n) discernment, comprehension

Greek: synesis – (n) grasping interconnectedness, intelligence

The ability to see the big picture.
