Defining Spiritual Warfare

Defining Spiritual Oppression

Spiritual oppression is when the enemy is temporarily victorious over a Christian by:

Successfully tempting a Christian to sin Hindering a Christian in their walk with God Stealing the fruit of the Spirit through persistent attacks

Know your enemy & what he does

Devours 1 Peter 5:8; 1 Corinthians 5:5

Disguises 2 Corinthians 11:14

Deceives Revelation 12:9; 2 Thessalonians 2:9

Accuses Revelation 12:10

Steals Matthew 13:19

Tempts 1 Thessalonians 3:5; Mark 1:13

Hinders Luke 13:16; 1 Thessalonians 2:18

Possesses Luke 22:3

Torments 2 Corinthians 12:7

Defending against the enemy

“Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” James 4:7

“Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. But resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world.” 1 Peter 5:8-9

Call for help

Defeating the enemy
