Inevitable Change - Moving Beyond Ourselves

Text: Acts 10

God Draws People to Himself

Cornelius was being drawn by God

He was visited by an angel

He was instructed to seek our Peter

God Does Not Conform to Our Ways

Peter has a vision

“What God has cleansed, no longer consider unholy”

The Spirit speaks to Peter to accompany the messengers

Footnotes:

Peter has a vision

Unclean food is presented

Peter told to kill an eat

Peter objects

What God has cleansed, no longer consider unholy

What God declares holy is not up to humanity to determine

Holiness is not a matter of our opinion, but God’s declaration

The Spirit speaks to Peter

Accompany the men who are seeking you

God Requires Our Submission

Peter enters the home of Cornelius

Cornelius bows before Peter

Cornelius begs to hear the word of the Lord

Footnotes:

Peter enters the home of Cornelius

A practice unlawful to the Jews

Cornelius bows before Peter

Cornelius begs to hear the word of the Lord

Peter Grasps the Heart of God

God does not show partiality

God welcomes all who fear Him and do right

The Gospel is Presented

God sent word of peace through Jesus Christ to Israel

Jesus was anointed by the Holy Spirit with signs and wonders

The Jews who witnessed His acts also put Him to death

God raised Him from the dead

We are witnesses of these events

We were ordered to preach that Jesus has been appointed to Judge the living and the dead

Everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins

God Saves Whom He Will

The Holy Spirit fell on Cornelius and those gathered

Peter declared that the Gentiles should be baptized in the name of Jesus

Footnotes:

The Holy Spirit fell on Cornelius and those gathered

The Gentiles spoke in tongues and exalted God

The Jewish believers were amazed when the Gentiles received the Spirit

Peter declared that the Gentiles should be baptized in the name of Jesus

A sign of equal fellowship and acceptance with the Jewish believers

The One Timeless Message

God loves humanity and desires peace with humanity

God made a way for peace through Jesus

He died to pay the penalty / debt of our rebellion / sin

He rose again from the dead

Those who believe in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus:

Are forgiven of their sin

Are made alive by the Spirit

Are given eternal life

Are granted peace with God
