The Teachings of Jesus - The Persistent Widow
There is always hope!
Text: Luke 18:1-8 *
The Parable of the Persistent Widow
THE CHARACTERS
The Unrighteous Judge
Holding distain for any authority other than his own
The Widow
Seeking legal protection from a court opponent
THE EVENTS
The judge rejects her pleas for justice.
The widow keeps coming to him to plead her case.
THE RESOLUTION
The judge relents and gives her legal protection because she continues to bother him, and by continually coming to him he fears she will wear him out.
THE LESSON OF JESUS
Note that the unrighteous judge granted the widow’s request
because of her persistence.
God will quickly bring justice for His elect who cry to Him day and night.
But when the Son of Man returns will He find faith on the earth?
THE TRUTHS FOR US
There is ALWAYS hope with God
We should PERSIST in prayer
We should TRUST in God’s provision and timing
Never lose your sense of HUMOR
