Be Ready, The King is coming
“Ready or not, here I come!”
Text: Luke 12:35-59
Be Ready
The King is coming
Be prepared for His return
Anticipate His return
Be on the alert
Do not be caught unprepared
(see Luke 12:35-40)
The Parable of the slaves
The Faithful Slave (Luke 12:41-44)
Put in charge
Cares for others
Conscientiously Obedient Result: Placed in charge of everything
The Malicious Slave (Luke 12:45-46)
Put in charge
Mistreats the other slaves
Willfully abusive
Result: Cut in pieces and assigned a place with unbelievers
The Frivolous Slave (Luke 12:47)
Knew the expectations of the master
Did not do the master’s will
Was rebellious and disobedient
Result: He will receive many lashes
The Ignorant Slave (Luke 12:48a)
Did NOT know the expectations of the master
Acted poorly, even worthy of being flogged
Was indifferent and distracted
Result: He will receive a few lashes
The Lesson of the Parable (Luke 12:48)
Everyone will give an account
Greater accountability is required for those with greater knowledge
Greater expectations are upon
those given greater responsibilities
“I have come to reign fire on the earth”
(Luke 12:49-53)
Lesson for Us… (Luke 12:54-59)
Consider the signs of our times!
Do what is right and just because you know He will return!
He will initiate a time of accounting and judgment!
