The Teachings of Jesus - about Miracles
Text: Luke 11: 14-28
The Occasion
Jesus was casting out a demon.
Some attributed His ability to being
demonic himself.
JESUS GIVES A DEFENSE
OF HIS MIRACLES
The Argument (part 1)
Where there is division, there is failure Satan would not work against his own purposes If Jesus were demonic, why would he cast out demons?
If Jesus is demonic, then how do you cast out demons?
IF HIS MIRACLES ARE GENUINE,
THEN THE KINGDOM OF GOD HAS COME
The Argument (part 2)
Conquering demonstrates superior strength The strength of a man protects his home A man is defeated by one who is stronger
MIRACLES ARE EVIDENCE
OF SUPERIOR DIVINE STRENGTH
The Conclusion
Those not with Me are against Me
You are either following Jesus
or opposing Jesus
THE EVIDENCE OF JESUS’ DIVINITY
(shown by His miracles)
DEMANDS A DECISION
The Illustration
When a demonic spirit is cast out it is unsettled
Then the demon gathers others and
marshals an attack to reclaim what was lost
NEUTRALITY IS NOT AN OPTION
(not making a decision to follow
is a decision to oppose)
The Response
“Blessed is the woman who bore you”
Jesus’ Rebuttal:
BLESSED ARE THOSE WHO HEAR THE WORD OF GOD AND OBSERVE IT
IF Jesus is Who he says He is
(He has proven his power by miracles)
THEN we must decide whether
we will fully follow Him.
NOT FOLLOWING IS A DECISION
TO OPPOSE HIM AND HIS KINGDOM
